Vacation!

We have had a mini vacation from school.  Still learning and having fun.  We have enjoyed having Adventure Academy Dad home for the extra days.

The kids learned how to tap Maple trees.

S.A. helping with power tools!!!!

This is our first time bowling.

C.G. won the second game.

I think she is pretending to put make up on him.

March MUD!!

March fun in the Mud!!!!

This seems to be the time of year that the kids review everything.  Touch up on areas that they are not so comfortable in and have fun.  I have ordered next years school curricula, and am very happy with my choices. I think I am figuring out our homeschool rhythm. So far I think I have everything...  Math Mammoth, Spelling Wisdom, English for The Toughtful Child, Alfreds Basic Piano Lesson books, some field guides for the Maine Woods and the Atlantic Ocean for our Nature Study, I borrowed from a friend Atistic Pursuits, and I bought Clara Dillingham Pierson's complete Among The People Series.  Of course we will continue with The Sewing School book, crafts and science experiments.  We are also picking 6 items in history to learn about. We will continue with the history timeline and Book of Centuries.  I have also decided to do a Nature Study group for kids and Adventure Academy Dad and Mom are working on 5 raised beds for gardening.   We will be having a busy Spring.

Hornets and Masks

Today the homeschool group met at our house. We made the sound of a hornet with index cards, an elastic and a tongue depresser.... So fun

We also made sweet dreams mask for the daylight savings time change.

Academics

We are revisiting areas in math and language arts for the next few weeks.  Then a vacation! CG has been refining her subtraction and SA his writing. Spring is almost here and we can't wait to get outside more. I have been working on making soaps. Curricula for next year has been ordered.  SA has already started the math curriculum for second grade.   Now I just need to plan the field trips.

Postcard update

We are half way through the postcard swap.  The kids get excited to read the facts on the postcards.
